Tullibardine 1488 Ales

1488 Whisky Ale

Introducing our award winning and first ever genuine whisky ale!

There is more to us than just whisky.    Our Tullibardine 1488 whisky ale is a unique brew designed to reflect the original character of the beer which was once produced at our brewery site in Perthshire.
The ale is brewed at the Bridge of Allan distillery which has been recognised for the quality of its beers and ale.  We felt this was a perfect product to add to our range as our distillery is in fact built on the site of the brewery where King James IV stopped off to collect his ale in 1488, as the area was well noted for the excellence of its ale.

How we brew our beer and what makes it special...

The art of brewing beer is very similar to that of distilling of whisky until the point in distilling where wash is pumped into the stills.  At the Tullibardine brewery, we produce our 1488 Ale with the same pure crystal spring water from the Ochil hills and malted barley used in the distillation process of our famous Tullibardine Malt Whisky.  Our 1488 whisky ale is then matured in newly disgorged Tullibardine casks for up to 12 weeks giving a glorious rich natural malt whisky colour, a light Tullibardine aroma and clean fresh whisky aftertaste.

The character of Tullibardine 1488 Ale comes through in the beer and you really do taste the whisky and get the same vanilla trace elements and orange notes that are characteristic of our Tullibardine whisky.

Our aim is to keep our 1488 Ale as true to the distilling process as possible.  Just like our whisky our Ale has no artificial colouring - the entire colour comes from the beer itself and the wood from the casks. Our 1488 whisky ale is bottled at 7% ABV and also comes in three other varieties:
Blonde (4%ABV), Traditional (4.5%ABV) and Strong (5% ABV).

These truly remarkable ales are best drunk chilled perhaps being chased by a dram of your favourite Tullibardine whisky.
